TCP/IP
Transmission Control Protocol/Internet
Protocol
1) TCP controls how messages are divided into "packets" by the sender and reassembled by the
receiver. Packets are kept small to suit networks connections of varying capacities.
2) IP identifies the sender and the receiver with unique names, IP addresses.
3) Every computer connected to the Internet has an IP address:
- 128.83.246.14 (oneida.grg.utexas.edu)
- 128.83.246.1 (texas.grg.utexas.edu)
