In this short movie is a model demonstration of a low viscosity green plume encountering a clear vs. yellow viscosity boundary and separating into two plumes. This is meant to model double flood basalt production by a deep mantle plume encountering the 670 km upper vs. lower mantle boundary. Demonstration constructed and conducted by Troy Hays for a plate tectonics demonstration.
