Nepal

Basic Fact Sheet  - Provides a quick glance at Nepal giving some basic facts such as population, area, national emblems, language, etc.  This page also provides links to other useful information concerning Nepal, for example travel, maps, pictures and more.

 

Nepal's Political Structure – This page gives and overview of Nepal’s national government and political institutions, giving information on the political parties and legislation in Nepal.  This page also has information on upcoming elections and percentages of votes for particular parties in the previous election.

 

Nepal has a rich history and this page provides good information that starts out with Ancient Nepal (500 B.C. – 700 A.D.).  It then leads to discuss Medieval Nepal (750 A.D. – 1750), giving information on the three kingdoms and also the Malla Kings.  It finishes the page with the making of modern Nepal and the Rana Rule. Nepal has two major religions Hinduism and Buddhism. Hinduism differs from Christianity and other Western religions in the respect that it doesn’t have a single founder; it consists of thousands of different religious groups that have evolved in India since 1500 BCE.  Buddhism is also a very unique religion and has theological ideas that are much different from other Western religions.  This page gives the reader insight to different aspects of Buddhism including their view on creation and also their idea of the four noble truths and the eight-fold path.

 

Bhutan

 

Bhutan is an ancient kingdom secluded high in the eastern Himalayas with unique customs and people with deeply held beliefs.  Many great saints, scholars, and pilgrims have visited Bhutan over the centuries who not only went there for their own personal gain but also blessed the land with invaluable spiritual and cultural legacies that still remain today.  This site offers good information regarding the deep history and general information of the country and of the Bhutanese people.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is an island country just off the southeastern tip of India and has a very tropical climate with two monsoon seasons per year.  The people of Sri Lanka mostly work on small farms and tea is the biggest exported crop from this small country.  This page provides a good look at the general information of Sri Lanka regarding history, culture, economic resources, and geographic characteristics.

 

The Tamil Tigers are a terrorist organization in Sri Lanka that for the past 20 years have been killing thousands of innocent Sri Lanka civilians with an excuse of a libertarian struggle to gain a separate state (Tamil Eelam). This page provides information and news articles regarding the terrorism that affects Sri Lanka.
