White Cloud Taoist Monastery (Bai Yun Guan), largest Taoist institution in Beijing, has been the center of Taoism in northern China since ancient times.
Yunju Temple, a Buddhist monastery built by Jing Wan, a Buddhist monk who lived during the Sui Dynasty (581-618). For permanent preservation of Buddhist scriptures, the abbot had them engraved on stone tablets that were stored away in nearby rock-caves. The undertaking was continued by monks after him, so the storage kept increasing. Now close to 15,000 scripture tablets are found hereabouts. Picture shows tablets of scriptures.
Yonghe Palace, largest Lamasery in Beijing, is one of the centers of the Yellow Sect of Buddhism in China, where religious exchanges are held between Buddhists in China and abroad. Large numbers of finely sculpted Buddhist statues are found in the temple.

In the Green Cloud Monastery (Bi Yun Si) on the Fragrant Hills is a Hall of Arhats(Luo Han Tang). It houses 500 wood-sculpted statues of arhats, each about 1.5 meters high, and they represent different postures and expressions.
