Traditions in Beijing

Beijing is a city famous for its long history as a center of Chinese cultural and political accomplishments. Some tradition still exist. Here's some pictures presenting a kind of traditions. You can click they to see full size of pictures.

 

This is the 'hutongs' (alleys) where we can sense the peculiar flavor of old Beijing. It's more secluded quiet and cultural. These hutongs are part of the city layout. They are will laid out on either side of the main streets.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

There are many 'siheyuan' (quadrangular compounds with houses around a courtyard). They are traditional style residence of Beijing, which are compact in structure and comfortable to live in.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The bird lovers are bringing their pet birds to the parks and listen to their sonata in the woods.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

'Jiaoze' (dumplings) is a homely delicacy for people of Beijing. On festival days or when there are calling friends or relatives they often sit together around the table making Jiaoze and enjoy talking freely in an atmosphere of perfect harmony.
