1. Map of Singapore

Lying almost on the equator, Singapore is a thriving city-state that has overcome its dearth of natural resources to become one of the juggernaut economies of Asia. A city of concrete, glass and steel, renowned for its hi-tech wizardry, Singapore also offers a taste of the great Asian cultures in a small easy-to-manage package.
2. Human Environment

Singapore is one of the most rapidly developing countries of the world. It has one of the strongest economics and one of the highest standards of living of any country in Asia. This picture shows the lights of the Central Business District. The Padding is in the foreground, and the lights of Boat Quay follow the sweep of the Singapore River.
Merlion

The picture above is the Merlion, to Singapore like the Statue of Liberty to New York City. The Legend of the Merlion is that there was a huge storm threatening to destroy Singapore. All of the sudden, a giant creature rose from the ocean. It had the head of a lion, and the body of a fish. It calmed the storm, and Singapore was saved. The Merlion has become the symbol of Singapore, and is located on Sentosa Island at the base of the harbor.

The Chinese opera

Of Singapore's 3 million people, 70-75% are ethnic Chinese, with the Malay and Indian communities making up the next two largest contingents. Due to changes in population dynamics, the previous government policy of encourage families to have lass than two children has been amended. This shift in policy is an effort to maintain the relative percentages of the different ethnic groupings.
China Town-The Chinese New Year

Chinatown is a great place for ultimate shopping experience. It is a multiracial place that welcomes visitors from all nations. In this place, you will experience the rich customs and traditions of the great cultures of Asia. It is also a good example of the widely Chinese cultural in Singapore.
The Durian Fruit

This is one thing really unique which is named the durian fruit. It smells quite strong and it's about the size of a melon and is quite hard on the outside with sharp spikes. It is one the most popular fruit in Singapore, and also it's a very specific fruit only produced in Southeast Asia.
4. Religion
Sir Mariammam Temple

With the high Chinese ethnic majority, the Chinese culture is the most evident in Singapore. Reflected in this Chinese culture is the influence of their primary religion, Buddhism. The Sir Mariammam Temple is the oldest Hindu temple, is located on South Bridge Road. The original wood temple was built in 1827 and the brick structure of the present building was completed around 1843. The many carving of deities on the walls, the bell-covered doors and ceiling frescoes often fascinates visitors to the temple. The annual fire-walking ceremony, Thimithi, is celebrated here.
5. Industry
Computer Component

Singapore has a large amount of industry. It is a shipping and trade center in Asia. In addition there is a large amount of electronic industry. A large percentage of the Singapore economy works is derived from disk drive design and manufacturing. The photo to the up is of work done at the University of Singapore's Data Storage Institute where they are currently developing disk drive read channel technology known as MxDFE.
