In the 1970's after the country started to become prosperus, the Emirates Telecommunications Corporation is established as the telephone and telecommunications provider for the country. This company has a basic monopoly on the country's telecommunication services. The internet is the UEA is also censored. Internet users are not able to access any websites within the domain of .il (Israel).

This is a hotel located in the city of Abu Dhabi. The luxury hotel opened in April 2005. It hosts 302 luxury rooms and 92 suites. The hotel is the most magnificant hotel in the Middle East. It even has 114 domes that are all covered in mosaic glass tiles. The rooms are equiped with large plasma TV's in every room, it even has wireless internet that reaches areas on the beach.

Here is a hotel that is located on the Dubai coastline. It sticks up about 1050 feet into the Dubai's skyline. The hotel was designed to resemble a billowing sail. It is another fancy and luxuring hotel that the UAE has to offer.

Camel racing is a traditional sport in country of the United Arab Emirates. In this picture it is clear that children are used to race the camels. The UEA is poor in the area of human rights and this image depicts that by using children as jockeys in the races. Some feel this is actually a form of slavery.

This is an image of the Abu Dhabi Golf Club in Abu Ahabi located in the UAE. The golf club is the home of the European Tour golf tournament the "Abu Dhabi Gold Championship", which was first created in January 2006. This event was created to help expand the European's Tour into Asia. The prize was $2 million.

The country of the United Arab Emirates is located in the Middle East with one of its borders being the Persian Gulf. The country is a fairly small one with a lot of desert (90%) and its cities mainly along the coastline. The UAE shares its border with only 2 other counties, Saudi Arabia and Oman.

This is a picture of an oil refinery located in the UAE. The UAE's economy was driven by the fishing and pearling industry until the 1950's when oil was discovered. The country is very oil-rich. The discovery and exporting of oil has transformed their economy. The people living in the UAE usually enjoy a high standard of living due to the country's oil wealth.

Here is a picture of the desert in the UAE. Roughly 90% of the UAE's land is desert. In the norther side of the country the sand dunes change to gravel plains formed by the Hajar Mountain Ranges. Apart from the magnificant cities in the UAE it, it is nothing but endless desert.
