I can be reached by e-mail at kdavis@opgis2.mro.usace.army.mil.
I was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska and, except for five years, I have lived in Omaha all my life. I graduated from Westside High School way back in 1977 and got married to Tom in the same year. Tom and I have been married for about 19 years. I have two teenage sons; Zachary is 17 and Jakob is 15. I also have a female dog (Siberian Husky) named Tasha .
I have had a variety of jobs in the twenty-some years I've been in the labor force; food service, retail, environmental, insurance. Right now, I am working as a co-op student at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers . I work in the GIS (Geographic Information Systems) section of the Regulatory Branch. I also attend graduate school part-time at the University of Nebraska at Omaha .

As an undergraduate, I was a "nontraditional" student. I started college when I was 28 years old. I worked full-time and went to school part-time for 6 years and then switched to working part-time and attending school full-time for the last 2 years. I finally graduated in August 1996 with a B.S. in Economics ( minor in Geography). I have just begun my graduate studies in the Economics Department at UNO. I have an interest in the areas of Labor Economics and Public Policy Economics but, truth be told, my first love is Geography.
I am especially interested in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) , because it involves a certain level of expertise and application of a variety of skills - programming, analytical abilities, cartographic skills, and an understanding of spatial relationships. I would like to continue studying GIS in graduate school, and I am hoping to find a full-time job working in GIS. Ideally, I would like to find a career that incorporates my interests in both Economics and Geography .

I hope to have more time to do everything now that I've graduated. I spend most of my free time with my family. When I have the time and energy, I like to run. I have been a runner for about 18 years. I used to run about 6 miles every day, but these days I usually only run about 3.5 miles 3-4 times a week. I also like to go for walks with my dog Tasha (she thinks we're hunting for rabbits).
In the summertime, I like to hike and backpack in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. When Nebraska gets enough snow, I am able to enjoy my two favorite wintertime sports, cross-country skiing and skijoring. Tasha knows most of her mushing commands, but, unfortunately, she's not a very good lead dog. I have to make my son, Jakob, run out ahead of us just to get Tasha moving.
I also like photography and watching junk television. My favorites are morning talk shows, Talk Soup, and MST3000.
