Tips for Submitting Assignments to MyFolder:

  1. The file you submit must have the correct file name (e.g., bio.htm, links.htm, notes.htm, image.htm, final.htm, extra.htm). Don't use upper-case letters in your file names and make sure they are spelled correctly.

  2. Do not put your file(s) in a separate folder. They must be in the public_html folder and not a sub-folder within this folder.

  3. If the file has images, remember to also transfer them to your public_html folder. If using Word, the folder of images will have the name of the file with a "_files" extension.
    It is not possible to rename the file or the folder outside of Word. To rename the file, you must open the file in Word and use "Save As..." to save the file with a different file name. The procedure will also create the corresponding file with the proper name for the pictures. Essentially, Word "marries" the HTML file with the folder of images. It is not possible to rename either the file or the folder outside of Word.

Windows XP:

  1. Myfolder does not work with Firefox. Use Explorer.
  2. Go to http://myfolder.unomaha.edu and enter your UNO NetID Username and your UNO NetID Password.
  3. Click on the blue text to see your folders.
  4. Click on the "public_html" folder.
  5. Drag-and-drop your file(s) to this folder.

Windows Vista:

The viewing of file extensions is turned-off by default in Vista. This makes it impossible for you to see the entire file name. Follow these instructions to make file extensions viewable:

  1. Open a folder or open explorer
  2. Click the Layout button (to the left of the Views button) as shown in the picture below
  3. Vista layout
  4. Click Folder Options
  5. Click the View tab
  6. Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types
  7. Click OK

On a Mac:

Myfolder does not work with either Firefox nor Safari on a Mac. Use this procedure instead:

  1. From the Finder, the 'Go' menu, select 'Connect to Server'
  2. In the box that appears, type in the following address:
  3. http://myfolder.unomaha.edu/usr/NetID (Replace NetID with your unique UNO NetID username)
  4. Click the Connect button
  5. In the box that appears, enter your UNO NetID Username and your UNO NetID Password
  6. Click the OK button.
  7. Drag the files associated with your assignment to the public_html folder.
  8. To logout, drag the desktop icon (with your UNO NetID name) to the Trashcan (will show up as an Eject).
