Yellowstone National Park was established in 1872. It is 2,221,766 acres. This is a view of one of the hotsprings of the park in Wyoming. About 600,000 years ago, the entire area of where the park is located blew up and formed boiking springs, rivers, and geysers. These geysers' eruptions and hotsprings attract people to visit and hike the trails and explore what nature has made. Bison, elk, and a few other animals roam this land. There are also places to fish, boat and lodge.
Yosemite National Park in Sierra Nevada, California was established in 1890 and is 1200 square miles. Yosemite Falls form the highest falls in North America and fifth in the world. Vernal Falls (shown) is a little difficult to get to, but it is a beautiful view. This park has many other views for a person. There's valleys, meadows, cliffs, waterfalls, glacier formations and wild animals. Recent occurances have been a flood in 1997 and a rock slide in 1996.
This is Toroweap Overlook located in Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. The park was established in 1919 and is 1,218,375 acres. The view of this national park is immense, it isn't possible to view the entire gorge at once. The canyon is said to have began forming about 5 million years ago. 4 million people travel here every year to see the canyon views, even though increasing pollution makes it a little difficult at times
Royal Beach is located in the city of Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. This view shows the streets and residencies created by people for their leisure. The sport of kayaking has been becoming popular in the past 5 years. There have been 10,000 tourists who have experienced the sport. The kayaking also includes snorkeling, sea caves and dolphin watched.
Chinatown in San Francisco, California first came about in 1846. Chinese set up their businessesin these areas. The goldrush brought more Chinese to this area. The late1800's caused uproar when Chinese were unwelcome. Later, Chinese schools were set up. Borders were set up in 1900. The present population is about 14,000, the majority being Asians and Pacific Islanders.
"America's Favorite Farmer's Market"--Pike's Place Market--is located in downtown Seattle, Washington. This area also houses 500 individuals, who are in need. There are foundation services to help keep this market going and supply those who are in need of food and shelter. Established in 1907, this market has provided crops for other farmers and shoppers. The present-day market allows craftspeople to sell their specialties in over 100 spaces available to them. Visitors are able to tour the market and see the many crafts and activities.
The Henry Jackson Federal Building is a passport agency located in Seattle, Washington. This is one of Isamu Noguchi's sculpture's located just outside of the building. Noguchi was a sculpter and painter born in Los Angelos, California. Seattle has a large amount of art galleries, some of which contain his works. These are interesting places for people to visit for those people who enjoy art and creativeness.
Las Vegas, Nevada is well-known for it's downtown strip of casinos and lights. This all began with a resort in 1941, called El Rancho. Casino resorts continued being set up through the 1970's. This is a view of Fremont Street, where the very first casinos were built. The night life here is very upbeat with a great deal of enterainment choices like dancing, raves, pubs, theater shows, festivals and cybercafes. Although it may seem as if only adults have most of the opportunity, their are also amusement parks for the family. Many people come here every year to take a little vacation and see excitement.
This is MacArthur Park. Located in southern California, it is one of over 50 state. Containing 910 acres of woods and a 129-foot waterfall, it is a beautiful park. Volcanic activity formed the landscape of the park. This shows a view of the park, but also the city that surrounds it. If cities continue to expand, they may begin to feel it necessary to rid the state of some parks, whether or not they are naturally produced.
